Sardegna Isola Sicura
The Project
Conceived and implemented by the Portale Sardegna Group in the Spring of 2020, "Sardegna Safe Island" was conceived to offer travellers a safety protocol and additional safeguards for their holidays on the island, in a time of strong international emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the first Online Tour Operator for holidays in Sardinia, we promoted a very important project. For the first time we gathered the major representatives of the Sardinian tourism industry: airports, private transport companies and the most important hotels, in order to prevent a chaotic situation without guidelines that might have put both tourists and the local population at risk.
In particular, we created:
Self-Discipline Code
An agreement committing ships, hotels and extra-hotel facilities to offer protective measures complementary to those provided by the authorities. More peace of mind for the traveller without additional hassle.
Purchasing groups for operators
Purchasing groups allowed all tourist operators in Sardinia to obtain favourable conditions for the supply of the equipment needed to comply with the new security standards.

When did the project end?
The Sardinia Safe Island Project ended once the Italian Government issued official directives to hotels and tour operators on the various procedures to follow. Fortunately, today the situation has improved and some of these actions are no longer necessary.
We would like to thank all the operators for sharing this project with us, recalling that Portale Sardegna has once again played a leading role in an important change within the regional tourism chain.
